A Junior College Route That Paid Off
None of the three took the direct path. Each one started at the junior college (JUCO) level, put in another season or two of work, and played his way onto a Division I roster.
Hayden Donahue competed at the University of Memphis and the University of Louisiana at Monroe. Jackson McCoy played for Southern Illinois University and Murray State University. Ben Davis finished his career at Mississippi State University.
Signing on with them was an easy call. Our attorneys have watched Booneville families raise ballplayers for a long time, and putting the firm behind three hometown kids chasing something hard felt like the obvious thing to do.
NIL deals tend to follow the biggest programs and the loudest markets. Ours went the other direction. These three got that support because of where they came from, not because of what the arrangement returned to the firm.
What sticks with us is not the box scores. All three carried themselves in a way that reflected well on their families, their coaches, their schools, and this town. Small towns notice how young men handle the bad innings as well as the good ones, and Booneville noticed.
